Strategic Direction

Our vision, mission, and priorities for the years ahead.

Everything the Alberta Provincial Committee does is anchored to a shared vision, mission, and set of values, carried forward from our 2021–2026 Strategic Plan. They tell squadrons, sponsoring committees, and partners what to expect from us — and hold us to it.

Our vision

To be a world-class participant supporting the Department of National Defence in the delivery of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets as a premier youth development organization in Alberta.

Our mission

We promote mutual respect and understanding between the participants in the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program. In practice, that means we:

  • Implement the Air Cadet League of Canada's national strategic plan across Alberta
  • Support the Department of National Defence's strategic initiatives and training goals
  • Recruit youth and adults to the cadet movement
  • Strengthen local Squadron Sponsoring Committees
  • Supply the resources squadrons need for training and activities
  • Encourage cadets to pursue their interest in aerospace and aviation

Our values

Seven principles guide how we make decisions and how we conduct ourselves:

  • Cadet-centred — we create safe, engaging learning environments.
  • Innovative — we adopt forward-thinking approaches.
  • Respect — we value every interaction and relationship.
  • Integrity — we choose the ethically sound action.
  • Teamwork — we collaborate while honouring diverse perspectives.
  • Quality of service — we pursue excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Leadership — we inspire others through our own conduct.

Strategic priorities

The 2021–2026 plan, adopted 24 April 2021, sets four priorities for the committee and its wings. They aren't separate silos — each supports the others — but together they focus everything we do:

  • Governance — run a high-functioning board defined by respect, support, and mutual accountability, with clear structure, by-laws, and policies.
  • Communication — share consistent, accurate information with the national office, the Canadian Armed Forces, and sponsoring committees, and raise the profile of the cadet program across Alberta.
  • Volunteer recruitment, training & development — build strong, sustainable sponsoring committees by recruiting, training, and retaining adult volunteers.
  • Financial sustainability & asset management — steward the committee's funds and assets responsibly, from budgeting and risk management to fundraising and the flying program.
