Every squadron in Alberta is backed by a Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) — local volunteers who make the program possible. No military background required, and most SSC members are parents of cadets who wanted to help.
What SSCs do
- Manage the squadron's finances and fundraising (like Cash Calendar sales)
- Arrange facilities, insurance, and transportation
- Screen and support volunteers
- Champion the squadron in the community
What's expected
SSCs typically meet monthly, plus help at key events. Roles range from committee member to Chair, Treasurer, or Secretary — but plenty of members simply help where needed. All League volunteers complete a screening process including a police records check (the League covers the process).
How to start
- Talk to the SSC Chair or staff at your local squadron — they'll be glad to see you.
- Or contact the APC and pick "Volunteering" — we'll connect you with a committee near you.
