Adult staff work directly with cadets on training nights and activities. There are three paths, depending on how involved you want to be:
Civilian Volunteer (CV)
Help at the squadron level under staff supervision — driving, supervision, event support. Screened by the League; the easiest way to help hands-on.
Civilian Instructor (CI)
Paid, part-time instructors employed by the Cadet Organizations Administrative and Training Service. CIs teach specialist subjects — music, aviation, marksmanship — without wearing a uniform.
CIC Officer
Commissioned officers of the Canadian Armed Forces' Cadet Instructors Cadre — the part-time officers who command and train squadrons. Includes paid training, a uniform, and the greatest responsibility for the program.
How to start
- Visit your local squadron and speak with the Commanding Officer about current staffing needs.
- The CO can sponsor applications for CI and CIC roles; CV screening runs through the sponsoring committee and League.
Former cadets, teachers, tradespeople, pilots, musicians: your skills are in demand.
